About Us

Troop 25 is a boy-led troop with an active outdoor program.  It is the adults’ goal to provide a safe, positive, and fun environment for boys to learn new skills and grow in leadership.

Troop 25’s Chartered Organization is Custer Road United Methodist Church of Plano, Texas.  For over 30 years, the troop has been active in the community, had monthly camp outs to various locations and attended summer camp yearly both in the state of Texas and other parts of the United States.

The Troop’s goal is to develop leaders in a safe environment where the boys can learn new skills and visit new places while enjoying fulfilling and enjoyable experiences.

Meetings:                     7:30 PM every Monday

Location:                      Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road

Campouts:                   Monthly, all year round – usually the 3rd weekend of the month. Feature opportunity to work on scout skills such as orienteering, rafting, marksmanship, climbing and canoeing.  In addition, we take special trips to venues such as Fort Washita, Schlitterbaun, Vicksburg,  Fort Hood, Barksdale Air Force Base and many more fun areas.

Summer Camp:        Yearly to BSA camps in and out of Texas

Size:                               Average 115 Scouts

Uniform:                     Full BSA uniform (no neckerchief) required

Fundraisers:              Scouts are expected to participate in 2 annual fundraisers – Greenery and Popcorn – which helps fund troop operating expenses and boy’s individual scout accounts.

Parents:                       Parents are expected to take an active role in their sons scouting years and participate in troop activities by volunteering and supporting the troop.   There are many opportunities for involvement.  You can work 1 hour a week or more, but you will be called upon to assist at some time. Parents are always welcome on all campouts and are strongly encouraged to be involved and participate. (Adults must be registered to attend campouts).  Scouting and Camping are a great way to bond with your son.

Family Campout:    The troop has one family campout annually where families and siblings can get together and have fun plus experience what a monthly campout is like.

High Adventure:     Troop 25 has 1 or 2 High Adventure trips yearly.

Summer Camps:     Camp Buck Toms in Tennessee; Camp Alexander in Colorado; Camp Constantin in Texas; Camp Orr in Arkansas; Camp Isabel in Colorado; Camp James Ray in Texas; Camp Thunder in Georgia.
